My First Time on a Kayak

My First Time on a Kayak

So my humans decided I needed to try kayaking. I had thoughts about this.

First, they put me in this bright yellow vest. A life jacket, they called it. I looked ridiculous. But also kind of official? Like I had an important job. Which I do. I supervise everything.

Then they put me on this wobbly thing floating on water. I was NOT sure about this. Water below me? Water around me? No solid ground? My Lab side was intrigued. My sensible side was concerned.

But then we started moving, and honestly? It was pretty great. I could see everything from up there. Fish swimming below, birds flying above, the whole lake spread out in front of us. I sat very still and felt like a professional adventure dog.

My humans were so impressed with my lake behavior that they decided to take me on the river next. Big mistake. HUGE mistake. See, the river MOVES. The water rushes and swirls and flows past you and it’s just SO EXCITING. I couldn’t contain myself. I tipped the kayak over. Twice.

My humans were less impressed after that. But honestly? Swimming was fun too. Would I do it again? Absolutely. Will they let me? That’s a different question.
